Where To Stay Near Frankfurt Airport

You basically have three great choices of the best area to stay near Frankfurt Airport. Basically, the closer you stay, the more convenient but the pricier.

Frankfurt Airport Terminal Area

Staying near the terminal gives you the ultimate convenience. You can easily access your flight without worrying about transportation delays. This is as close as you can get to a hotel in Frankfurt Airport.

However, this area tends to be more expensive, and accommodation options may be limited to hotels catering to business travelers, although this means this is the area with the best hotels.

While there are restaurants and cafes, the dining options can be more generic and expensive.

Gateway Gardens Business District

Just a short shuttle ride away or longer walk from the airport, the Gateway Gardens Business District offers comfortable hotels near the Frankfurt Airport at relatively reasonable prices. This area is quieter, making it ideal for those needing a restful night before or after a flight.

You’ll find a few dining options and shops, but the variety might not compare to central Frankfurt. It’s great for business travelers but may feel isolated for those looking to explore local culture.

Frankfurt Main Train Station Area

If you prefer to explore the city, consider staying near the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main train station). This area is bustling with energy, offering numerous restaurants and shops. It’s only a ten-minute train ride from the airport and trains depart frequently.

It’s also reasonably priced, with various hotel options ranging from budget to mid-range and your money will go much further here. However, the vibrancy can come with noise, and the area is considered seedy and the red-light district.

Overall Recommendation

Choosing the best place to stay near Frankfurt Airport will depend on your priority—convenience, price, or cultural immersion. The terminal area is perfect for short layovers, Gateway Gardens is a great business-friendly option, and the main train station area is best for those wanting to experience more of what Frankfurt has to offer.

If you have the energy and a little time to explore, I prefer traveling into the center.
