Want to learn German or want to learn something quickly you can definitely use in Germany? Learn how to ask someone speaks English! It’s the easiest way to find someone who can help you out while you’re German isn’t great.

It’s easy to ask if someone speaks English although you’ll need to learn both an informal and formal way to ask. You’ll also want to be sure that you understand the different responses you may get.

It’s quite easy to learn with some similarity to English – especially the word English! Or should I say Englisch?!

Watch the video below to learn how to ask this important question. Below the video, you’ll find a list of the vocabulary used so you can write it down and practise.

You can do this!

Vocabulary taught in this lesson:

  • Sprichst du Englisch? – Do you speak English? (informal)
  • Sprechen Sie Englisch? – Do you speak English? (formal)
  • Entschuldigen Sie – Excuse me
  • Ja – Yes
  • Ein bisschen – A little
  • Nein – No
  • Ich spreche nicht Englisch – I don’t speak English
